Rangers Diary

Oct 28 to Nov 03 - Week 44 (3  November 2001)

A lot of impala and warthog were seen this week as well as guinea fowl and red crested korhaan. The elephant were on the airstrip drinking from the cement reservoir. We also heard lion roaring almost every night and morning this week. The bush is changing quite dramatically now that we are in the summer months, most trees are in full leaf and the grasses have made the transitions from brown to green and there are lots of wild flowers around.
There was a water dikkop killed on the clubhouse lawn in front of the cottage, presumably by a genet. The only remains were of the dikkops one wing and its head. While down at the clubhouse we came across the remains of another kill, this time the remains of a leopard tortoise which was eaten by ground hornbill
